St. Amant is a small family owned winery founded in 1979 by longtime grower Tim Spencer and his wife Barbara. The family takes pride in producing handcrafted wines of consistent, uncompromising quality. Today, Tim and Barbara’s son Stuart Spencer (who also serves as Lodi Winegrape Commission’s Program Director) continues to craft pure, fruit-forward, food-friendly wines that are, above all, delicious. The Spencer approach is based upon the belief that wine, first and foremost, is a beverage of pleasure, best enjoyed with family and friends. This all starts with the premise that great, well balanced wines come from meticulously grown grapes.
St. Amant made its mark with classic Lodi old vine Zinfandel — particularly the iconic Marian’s Vineyard Zinfandel farmed by Mohr-Fry Ranches — but has also always focused on Mediterranean inspired wines, made from distinctive, estate grown Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian grapes. Winemaking practices follow traditional hands-on techniques geared towards maximum expression of vineyard sites.
St. Amant’s winery and tasting room — still manned primarily by Barbara Spencer herself — is located in an old post-prohibition era cooperative winery on the east side of Lodi. Nothing fancy; but like Lodi itself, an intense, honest, unforgettable experience!
